The University of Kansas Jayhawks intercollegiate men's basketball program is a NCAA Division I team , and the team competes in the Big 12 Conference . The Jayhawks one of the most storied programs in collegiate sports history, their first coach was the inventor of the game, James Naismith , who, ironically, is also the only coach in the program's history to have a losing record. The team plays at Allen Fieldhouse.
