Philadelphia Philies Game Tickets

he Philadelphia Phillies are the longest standing same-named, same-city team in American professional sports, having been born to the National League in 1883. Unfortunately for them, longevity does not constitute greatness. In fact, the Phillies have been dogged by bad management, poor players and general ineptness for almost the entire span of their long history, so much so that they have lost more games than any other American professional sports team. With this long standing history of a below average franchise Philadelphia Phillies game tickets have taken a back seat in the eyes of Phillies fans.

The Philadelphia Phillies have gone through more ups and downs then most professional sports franchises. Starting off on a bad foot doesn’t always mean it stays bad. The Phillies have had their stretches of success as well, Suddenly a new word was applied to the Phillies - dynasty. They won three consecutive National League East Titles (1976-77-78) with Carlton the mainstay (twenty, twenty-three, and sixteen wins) and Mike Schmidt the slugging star (thirty-eight, thirty-eight, and twenty-one home runs). He became the third Philly player (of the fifteen players in history) to hit four homers in a game in 1976. There was plenty of other power with Greg Luzinski (twenty-one, thirty-nine & thirty-five homers), Garry Maddox and Richie Hebner.

With the small spurts of success the Phillies have had, the Phils have become a pretty consistent contender as of late, a new ballpark in 2004, Citizens Bank Ballpark has become a landmark of beauty in the Philadelphia area. The uniqueness of Citizens Bank Park carries over to the playing field with "Angle." The outfield wall, located between the left-center field power alley and dead center field, angles into the playing field and has heights that taper from 19' to 12' 8". Batted balls hitting the "Angle" are sure to create havoc for outfielders and produce some interesting extra-base hits. With the Philadelphia city skyline as the backdrop, the ballpark features bowl-style seating with the playing field scooped out 23 feet below street level. The seating bowl layout is inspired by the classic plans of Baker Bowl and Connie Mack Stadium, former homes of the Phillies. Like Connie Mack Stadium, the upper and lower decks do not correspond exactly in plan. The cantilevered steel structure allows for more open seating areas. With this new ballpark Philadelphia Phillies game tickets have become important again, winning the 2008 World Series has also been a giant stride for the beloved Phillies.
