The Seafarer Tickets

Billed as a "chilling new play about the sea, Ireland, and the power of myth," the play is described this way: "It's Christmas Eve and Sharky has returned to Dublin to look after his irascible, aging brother who’s recently gone blind. Old drinking buddies Ivan and Nicky are holed up at the house too, hoping to play some cards. But with the arrival of a stranger from the distant past, the stakes are raised ever higher. In fact, Sharky may be playing for his very soul."

McPherson, who was nominated for a 2006 Best Play Tony for Shining City, told Playbill Magazine he thinks this is his most optimistic play yet. "I see it as a very warm play," he explained. "It's supposed to be like a thrilling roller-coaster ride. I wanted the suspense to be palpable and enjoyable. But we need yin and yang, both the highs and the lows. I've written other plays where I just trawl right through the lows. So this one sort of is trying to redress the imbalance. We need to go into the depths to pull it into the hopefulness, which I think the play is ultimately suffused in." Although dark and mysterious The Seafarer story has been around for ages, The Seafarer Tickets are a must purchase.
